Process is the most important part of my work. I approach my paintings without a full idea of what the end product will look like. The experience of making the piece is valued more than simply the finished product. I work intuitively to form lines and shapes by experimenting with new materials and techniques. By exploring the relationship created with the thickness of each line or the shapes, I create a dynamic figure ground relationship. Line, circles, and movement are motifs carried throughout my body of work., but have no particular meaning..
My work heavily involves eye movement inspired by optical art, also known as Op art. Op art gives the impression of movement from the careful application of color and patterns. When viewing my work, the audience's eyes should move continuously throughout the piece, interrupted by periodic breaks. My intention is to invoke feelings in the observer with multiple interpretations, calling upon them to attach their own emotional meaning to what I've created.
